Richard is co-founder and managing director of Suntrace since 2010. Richard is responsible for the technical analysis, and in particular for all aspects involved with solar resource and energy yield modeling. He is advising governments and industry, is an reputed leader in the field of solar resource and has supported numerous solar projects across the globe.

From 2006 to 2009, Richard headed the technical analysis of Epuron / Conergy , where he focussed on concentrating solar power.

From 1996 to 2006, Richard worked for DLR (German Aerospace Center), where he set up the satellite-based services SOLEMI and ISIS for analyzing potentials for CSP.

From 2000 to 2004 he contributed to the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) 'Solar and Wind Energy Resources Assessment'.

In 2005 Richard was a visiting scientist to NASA's project 'Prediction of World Energy Resources' POWER and the NASA-SSE (Surface meteorology and Solar Energy) project. He co-founded the virtual Institute of Energy Meteorology and the IEA Task 'Solar Resource Knowledge Management', which is now under the lead of the International Energy Agency´s Technology Cooperation Programme PVPS.

Dr. Richard Meyer holds a diploma in geophysics and a PhD in physics from Munich University. In his thesis he studied the climate impact of aircraft contrails by use of satellite data.
